The Science of Robosapien

In short, Robosapien looks old school compared to the boxes on wheels, a dome with a clear head. "Oh," you say, it looks like a muscled storm trooper and the fart button type that is a cry now. We nodded nice, but behind his back, which laugh your total lack of appreciation of the advanced robotic theory involved.

Robosapien today a turning point in the development of robotics and the first robot based on science applied biomorphic robotics. (This is what I have to tell your friends and family all the time does not show, funny cat chasing skill.) biomorphic robotics stems from Mark Tilden's innovative new concepts BEAM technology.

Kind of a new philosophy of the BEAM robot is an acronym Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics and Mechanics. Dr. Mark W. Tilden founded this relatively new branch of robotic sciences in 1989, based on the premise that robots behavior-rich need not only the huge complex projects to maintain a well-funded labs and cartoon villains.

In other words, the traditional approach to the development of robots in place a sophisticated brain to maneuver the mechanics of the body. Without ruling out the possibility of engineering feats incredible robots built so that in particular, Qrio from Sony and Honda ASIMO, Mark Tilden strongly contends that this is a bad approach to take.

It's like trying to emulate a man, when modern technology and research is not realistic to copy the error of your garden. "[It's] an evolutionary dead end" Tilden says. BEAM robotics is about taking from the bottom up, starting to learn this simple error and moving from there.

Instead of trying to create a centralized theft and brain to process all the input variables and spit the decision (much, much harder than you think), why not use the system known as "subsumption architecture.'' subsumption architecture is a clever technique where the actions of a robot driven by the layers, each layer is a factor in controlling the operation of the robot.

For example, a low level of the layer can be "walking forward ', which is the robot is happy as long as it runs into something. At this point, a slightly higher level "Raise the upper leg 'comes into play, nullifying the Walk' layer forward ' until the robot successfully climbs over the barrier, and then 'Raise your right leg stops major', and the low level 'Walk Forward' takes over again. *

Egocentric Bugs

Therefore, Tilden began a robot bugs on this principle, and selfish creature had been excluded.

Why? Well, Tilden decided that Asimov's famous Three Laws of Robotics:

First I do not hurt people.

Listen to the second man, unless said: "It does not hurt humans."

Third Try to live.

are outdated concepts that left no room a good joke by the parties.

So one dark and stormy night, hosted by Tilden Three Laws of Robotics:

First A robot must protect their existence at all.

Second A robot must obtain and maintain access to a power source.

Third, the robots are continuously in search of better energy sources.

informally known as *:

First Protect your ass.

Feed your ass second.

Third Move your ass to make better real estate.

First he justified this assertion robotic self-interest as the only way robots start to grow as people may have been guppies looking for a good time to leave the ocean.

Error, Sapiens

Need to find the group lighter-minded people in their government and NASA days, Tilden decided that he should go to join the game company. Who better than a bold to proclaim themselves, Wow Wee! There was a great game, and started working on games of dinosaurs, and Tilden base error is now recognized as an expert.

Then came the captain, who say the project could change the landscape quite a total of robotics. FartDude, later named Robosapien after the initial test market was the culmination of the work of Tilden and, finally, to make a humanoid (Sapien-like, if you will) of the robot is capable of an impressive list of moves and a harsh voice.

The Robosapien, you see the BEAM philosophy bases and technological research. It follows the B as a biomorphic version of people, this is the fact you can not throw a tub, because it is a Stylin recent magazine covers, and a heck of a lot of M going to dance the capacity of theft.

That Mr. Sapien

Like no robot ever, the Robosapien is affordable to the unwashed masses. The Robosapien is an achievement, when mobility, consumption, programmability, and perhaps most importantly, Extensibility.

Each branch of the movement capacity of 360 allowed by the, ahem, shoulder joints and elbows biomorphic flexible. Ending in three articulated fingers, Robosapien is able to collect, hold and throwing objects. The complete original motion walk (most robots do not actually leave Lab) is also possible to design the big feet and well-placed sensors.

And you know how much power it usually takes to run a Fuggedabowdit robot. Regular rogue robots little battery-eaters always hungry for more, more, more! And who will pay for these items, hmmm 'Well Robosapien is no shame to itself when the energy consumed, especially surprising mechanical physics. It runs the full 60-10 hours to establish an element. In fact, if you move Robosapien's arm that could actually create it! Hey, this is difficult.

For those who want a robot you take a cold beer in the kitchen, lazy just have to wait until later. But then the program Robosapien to do some pretty cool things Meanwhile, look around as a swing of things, protection of your room while you sleep, and a fun game of "pull my finger." Try to teach your dog that trick with a clever boy.

So what's so hot about extensibility, and that even a word, you ask? You have a nerve. Tilden went through some serious, serious efforts should be made to the robot fans can separate the robots, as he had as a child, and tinker changes. Each color code on it, to make things easy for those without doctorates, and all accounts, a large amount of additional space to accommodate that thing think of Frankenstein. There are whole books on the subject you want to learn, so go ahead and hack. If it is a good, send and we will publish all the models and not applaud too.

And one more thing

So the next time Robosapien see a respectfully nods to the world's first robot based in applied science biomorphic robotics. Then go chase a cat with her.
